Welcome to Whitewater Run Club — what we are, what we're not
Welcome. If you’ve landed here, you’re probably one of three people:
- A parent of a young runner trying to figure out what to do with all that energy between now and high school cross country
- An adult runner in or near Whitewater who is tired of running alone
- A coach, sponsor, or community member curious about what we’re building
All three of you should keep reading.
What we are
Whitewater Run Club (WRC) is a community running club based in Whitewater, Wisconsin, registered with USA Track & Field as of fall 2025. USATF registration matters for two practical reasons:
- Our athletes can compete in USATF-sanctioned races and meets — including youth track and youth cross country events that exist outside the school system
- Our coaches operate under a national governance framework, including SafeSport training and background checks
We try and meet Sundays at 3:00 PM at a location chosen the Monday before. Meetups are free.
What we are not
We are not a replacement for school cross country or track programs. We hope to feed them. We hope to complement them. We never want to compete with them.
We are not a paid coaching service. Our coaches are volunteers (for now) operating under USATF guidelines. When we incorporate as a nonprofit and start charging modest dues, those dues will fund youth scholarships, gear, race entries, and modest coach stipends — not profit.
We are not finished being built. We have a long list of things in progress: RRCA membership, Wisconsin nonprofit incorporation, federal 501(c)(3) recognition, certified coaches, youth scholarship fund. If you want to help, get in touch.
What’s next
In the next 60 days:
- Launch the new website (you’re looking at it)
- Open guardian consent and emergency contact forms for youth registration
- Begin recruiting and certifying additional volunteer coaches
- Publish the first training plans
In the next 6 months:
- File for Wisconsin nonstock corporation status
- Apply for RRCA club membership
- Begin community races and partner events
- Open the youth XC summer base running program (June–August)
If you want to come Sunday
Just show up. We should post our Group Meetup locations the Monday before (about 6 days before). Wear shoes that you can move in. We’ll figure out the rest in person.
If you want to fill out a form first so we can send you the right info, join here.
See you out there.
