Trippe Lake Park Loop (and Cravath–Trippe Combination)
- Distance: 1.5 to 2.2 miles
- Surface: Paved
- Difficulty: Easy
- Trailhead: Trippe Lake Park, Whitewater, WI (or Minneiska Park as an extended start)
About this route
Trippe Lake Park is one of Whitewater’s five community parks, with the Whitewater Creek Trail running through it. The loop around the park is a short, paved, easy run — a good companion piece to the Cravath Lake Loop, which sits about half a mile north.
Variations
| Variant | Distance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Trippe Lake loop only | ~1 mile | Quick easy run; family with stroller works |
| Cravath & Trippe combined loop | ~1.5 miles | Designed for water viewing — start at Cravath Lakefront Park, follow Whitewater Trail south to Trippe |
| Minneiska → Trippe → Wisconsin St → return | ~2.2 miles | Paved, level, no road crossings — great for solo evening runs or kids on bikes alongside running parents |
What to know before you go
- Paved throughout — runnable in any weather conditions outside heavy snow.
- Free parking at Trippe Lake Park and Minneiska Park.
- Multiple benches; restrooms seasonal at the parks.
- Whitewater Creek Trail connects this loop to the Downtown Loop and to Cravath — you can mix and match for longer runs.
Why we run here
When Cravath is busy on a Saturday morning, Trippe is usually quiet. The Minneiska-to-Wisconsin-Street option is the only in-town route with no road crossings — significant for runners with anxious dogs, young runners, or anyone who hates waiting at stoplights mid-run.
